What I want to study in College

There are many thing that I want to study in college. I am kind of confused right now on what I really want to do. I know I love history and traveling. I was thinking about majoring in international studies and becoming an ambassador or working for the United Nation. But I also want to be in Global Health . I really want to educate people from poor nation on their health and better the lives of underdeveloped country, but I also feel that I'm not that good in science or anything to do with science. I know for sure that my career need traveling, history, and helping underprivileged people, I'm just not sure what kind of career would do that for me. I also want to be a history professor when I'm older and pass on my knowledge. I feel like the pre-collegiate program helps me understand better how college work and can help me get college credits.

  1. Hi and thanks for sharing. As I read your posting I couldn't help thinking that getting involved in something like the Peace Corps would be a great way for you to travel and give back to a community. You may want to check it out sooner rather than later as it may help you to know what you may want to study as a college undergrad. There are plenty of ways you can help and volunteer as an undergrad with health or other programs here in the U.S. - Habitat for Humanity, homeless shelters, Easter Seals summer camps and programs. There is lots you can do locally as well as abroad. I agree that helping underdeveloped countries is a great goal but I'd also challenge you to look around at this country. We aren't "underdeveloped" but many people in this country have poor personal knowledge of their own health issues which leads to senseless poor health consequences. Just some food for thought.
Good luck in the program and have fun in the exploration.
